Education Beyond Expectations

How do we prepare a diverse student population for college and careers? By focusing on high expectations, a rigorous curriculum, whole-child support, family involvement, and a professional learning community, we ensure every student achieves their full potential. Dedicated to historically underserved students, LCPS provides equitable, high-quality education for all.

But, does it get results?

Future Ready

Career or College?

Career Technical Education Pathways

Why not be ready for both? Our Career and Technical Education (CTE) Pathway in Advanced Manufacturing and Product Design equips students with design thinking, problem-solving, and collaboration. Our Digital Media Arts Pathway encourages students to showcase, screen, and vote on the work they’ve prepared in their photography and film classes. Students engage in hands-on projects and internships and create detailed future plans, ensuring they are ready for success after graduation.

A to Z?

No - A to G!

To ensure students are eligible for four-year universities in California, we design courses and schedules so that every student meets A-G requirements by graduation. Despite being a small school, we strategically plan each class to fulfill these essential college eligibility standards and give students access to a CSU or UC.

Get Your Head in the Game

From day one, we emphasize that college is an attainable goal that opens doors to career opportunities. We communicate this message by organizing events and activities, from college visits and financial aid workshops to annual College Declaration Days. A college-going culture inspires students from the moment they walk through our doors.

Connected Success

Crew, also known as advisory, ensures each Lighthouse student has a strong relationship with at least one caring adult. Crew leaders coach students in goal-setting, developing strategies, and maintaining communication with families. Student goals are revisited at least three times each year at student-led conferences. The Crew Curriculum integrates students into Lighthouse’s culture, core values, restorative justice practices, and academic expectations. It reinforces rituals, celebrates achievements, repairs relationships, and builds community through small group sessions.

Extraordinary Extras for Extraordinary Students

Is it possible to narrow the opportunity gap? YES! We encourage students to participate in diverse extracurricular activities and volunteer opportunities to foster personal growth, community involvement, and academic enrichment. Whether it's volunteering or engaging in specialized programs, students gain valuable skills and connections.

It Starts With Family

Strong family engagement and involvement are good predictors of student success. We host workshops, encourage open communication, and invite parents to participate actively in school events. Family-school partnerships enhance student confidence, creating a supportive community dedicated to every child's educational journey and overall well-being.

Empowering Futures

Community partnerships are vital to our success, enabling us to host enriching events, support students, and provide valuable resources. Collaborations with organizations like Johns Hopkins University and Peralta Community College District enhance educational opportunities, helping us create a nurturing environment where students thrive academically and personally, preparing them for bright futures.
